KANSAS CITY—One person died in standing outside a vehicle after accident Wednesday in Kansas City.
A Ram 1500 was westbound on 210 Highway and had stopped in traffic and just prior to the light at North Norfleet, according to KCPD Officer Officer Alayna Gonzalez
A westbound Hyundai Accent was unable to stop in time and rear-ended f the Ram 1500. Both drivers exited their vehicles and 9-1-1 was called.
While waiting for the Police to arrive, the driver of the Hyundai was standing by his driver's door, on the yellow line, south shoulder of the roadway.
Just after 6a.m., the driver of a westbound Chevy Silverado did not see the flashers on the Hyundai until the last second. The Silverado swerved to the left and struck the driver of the Hyundai.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chevy Silverado was not injured in the collision. All lanes of westbound 210 Highway were closed for about 3 1/2 hours. This is traffic death 55 in 2024 compared to 51 at this time last year, according to Gonzalez.
