Name: James E Pettay
Age:  72
Occupation:  Driver for Flint Hill ATA
Incumbent:   Yes,  City Council

Why have you decided to run for this position? I ran for city council and running for re election to continue to try and improve the city overall.  My first term  has been  a learning experience in what resources are available and what limitations stifle us from moving forward.

What experience/background do you have that would make you a good city council member? The biggest hurdle for all projects is the limited money available to take on any major improvements.  The city has been aggressively pursuing a wide variety of grants from several sources.  Approval of grants will dictate the what areas the money could be use to improve.  Infrastructure is the one area that high on my list and on many other peoples.   Sewer, Water, Storm Drains and Streets all need upgrades/modernization.

What are the top three issues you believe the city will face during your term, if elected? The Ogden Area Wide Plan which was recently submitted is pretty much in line of what I was thinking  for making Ogden a model community.

Is there something you would like to see change about any city ordinance or program? City ordinances are to give guidance and directions in everyday operations of the city to insure a safe and properly run community.   I personally to not favor over use to micro manage and having guidance that’s unenforceable.
