SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities investigating a car theft with a dog in the vehicle have located the car and also the puppy.
The dog was located late Tuesday, according to police, and is safe.
Just after 5:30a.m. Tuesday, a black Volkswagon Passat with Kansas tag number 0806ABC, was reportedly stolen from the Kwik Shop at SW 6th and Macvicar in Topeka, according to Topeka Police.
Police determined there was a puppy inside the vehicle at the time it was stolen.
Just before 4p.m. Tuesday, police reported they located the black Volkswagon Passat and two individuals were currently in custody, according to police spokesperson Rosie Nichols.
Police thanked the many community members who assisted in this investigation. Police have not released the names of the suspects.
