Manhattan firefighters respond to a fire at Taco John's

The damage estimate from an early Sunday morning fire at Taco John's restaurant, 214 Leavenworth Street,  Manhattan, has been estimated at $300,000 to the contents and $300,000 to the structure. One firefighter suffered a minor injury and was treated and released at Via Christi Hospital.

Firefighters were dispatched to the Taco John's at 5:05 a.m. According to Deputy Chief Ryan Almes upon arrival crews found the single-story restaurant with smoke showing from the roof. Crews entered the building and extinguished the fire within 30 minutes. 

The fire reached a second alarm before it was contained. A total of 18 firefighters responded on five fire trucks.

The quick-service restaurant was built and opened in 2014. The owner is listed as Flint Hills Holdings, LLC, with the resident agent listed as Jeff Torluemke, Hoxie. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
