OSAGE COUNTY — Two people died and five others injured in a boating accident just after 7p.m. Sunday in Osage County, Missouri.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2002 Gatorboat driven by Reven N. Newbound, 30, Owensville, was traveling upstream on the Gasconade River near Pointers Creek.
The boat struck a root wad which caused the vessel to collide with a rock bluff. After impact the boat partially submerged.
Newbound and a 7-year-old girl were pronounced dead at the scene.
EMS transported a baby, a 4-year-old girl and a 9-year-old girl all of Owensville to University Hospital. Samantha Newbound, 29, Owensville, was airlifted to University of Missouri Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. EMS treated Taylor M. McClure, 21, Bland, at the scene.
The adults were not wearing life jackets, according to the MSHP.
