SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a Kansas man on multiple allegations after a shooting, chase and attempted carjacking.
Just after 6p.m. Sunday, police responded to a shooting call in the 1600 block of S. Hydraulic in Wichita, according to Officer Juan Rebolledo.
Before their arrival, officers were informed that the suspect had run from scene. At the scene, officers located a 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
As officers investigated, they identified and located the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Chandler Wooten, according to the Sedgwick County arrest report, who attempted to evade arrest.
During the pursuit, the Wooten tried to carjack a vehicle from a 51-year-old man in the 2100 block of S. Pattie. Due to the quick response of officers, the attempted carjacking was prevented, and Wooten was apprehended without further incident. He was found armed with a handgun at the time of his arrest.
Wooten is being held in the Sedgwick County jail on requested charges of Attempted Murder, Attempted Carjacking, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Obstruction, and Possession of Paraphernalia.
