KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement are investigating a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident that occurred just after 1a.m. Wednesday in Kansas City, Missouri.
According to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartio, Missouri Highway Patrol was in pursuit of a white Chevrolet Trax that was being operated in such a manner as to endanger the general public.
The pursuit was eastbound on 18th Street approaching Prospect in Kansas City, Missouri. A pedestrian was crossing 18th Street from south to north in the marked crosswalk. The Chevrolet struck the pedestrian and continued eastbound on 18th Street without stopping.
The Trooper immediately terminated the pursuit and stopped to assist the pedestrian. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.
This is fatality #43 compared to #44 at this time last year and the investigation is ongoing.
