Junction City got strong pitching from Cade Phelps and Austin Gerrity enroute to a 5-0 win over the Midwest A's in the game one of the Mid Plains League championship series at Rathert Field Tuesday night. Game two in the best two out of three series is set for Belton, Missouri at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Junction City scored two runs in the fourth inning and with the help of home runs by Thomas Beiswanger and Garrett Redden scored three more runs in the seventh inning.
If a game three of the series is necessary it will be played at 7 p.m. Thursday at Rathert Field.
