Wanted Kansas felon captured after running from arrest

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a wanted Kansas felon on multiple new allegations after a chase and arrest.

Just before 7:30p.m. July 13, deputies with the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office were driving in the area of NW Topeka Boulevard and NW Lyman Road when they observed a known individual with a warrant for his arrest, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.

The individual, identified as 35-year-old Anthony A. Bayless, attempted to run from the deputies. The deputies quickly caught up and took him into custody.

During the investigation, deputies found illegal narcotics. Bayless of Topeka was  booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of Possession of an opiate, opium, narcotic or certain stimulant, Use/possess with intent to use drug paraphernalia into human body, Interference with law enforcement and a Topeka bench warrants for his arrest.  He has previous convictions for burglary and criminal damage to property, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
