KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement investigating another homicide in Kansas City have identified the victim as 34-year-old James Heberling.
Just before 8:30p.m. Wednesday, police were dispatched to the 3600 block of Truman Road, according to KCPD Officer Jhanelle Cole.
Officers canvassed the area for a victim and located Heberling, unresponsive and suffering from apparent gunshot wounds in the 1400 block of Askew. He was located in a fenced in grassy area where EMS responded and declared him deceased.
Responding Officers relayed a possible suspect description over the radio. Officers in the Rapid Deployment squad responded and immediately began canvassing the area. They were able to locate an individual matching the suspects description and took him into custody for further questioning.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a group of individuals believed to be known to each other were involved in an argument that escalated to gunfire.
Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel responded to the scene to begin collecting evidence and gathering witness statements to include the involvement of any additional subjects. Police have not released the name of the victim.
