Police: 34-year-old Kan. man died after reported fight

SEDGWICK COUNTY  —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fatal shooting and have a shooting that fatally injured 34-year-old Stephen Muriithi of Wichita.

Just after 2 a.m. Friday, police responded to a shooting at an apartment complex in the 500 block of North Nims in Wichita, according to officer Charley Davidson. 

Upon arrival, officers located 34-year-old Stephen Muriithi who had been shot.  Officers began life-saving measures, but Muriithi succumbed to his injuries on the scene.

The investigation revealed a disturbance ensued at one of the apartments involving multiple individuals, stemming from an earlier physical disturbance.  A shot was fired that struck Muriithi.

Police have not reported an arrest.
