SEDGWICK COUNTY —Crews battled back to back fires Monday near Mulvane.
Construction workers were cutting rebar and started grass on fire near the Kansas Turnpike at exit 33, according to a social media report from Mulvane Fire and Rescue.
While that grass fire was going on, a local farmer had an issue with a hot bearing in the rear straw walker. Farmer thought it was out but the fire soon reoccurred and caught the engine compartment on fire. The combine was full of diesel fuel. Thanks to Cowley County Fire District IV for mutual aid on the combine fire!
