KANSAS CITY—A pedestrian run over by a bus in a crosswalk in Kansas City on Sunday died of her injuries, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino..
Just after 1p.m. Sunday, the pedestrian was inside a marked crosswalk, crossing 6th Street at Wyandotte from south to north, according to DiMartino.
A passenger bus was making a left turn from southbound Wyandotte to eastbound 6th Street. The bus struck and ran over the pedestrian and then left the scene without stopping.
EMS transported the pedestrian to a local hospital in critical condition. Just after 6p.m. police reported the bus had been located and the driver was cooperating.
DiMartino confirmed the woman died of her injuries on Monday afternoon. This is fatality #76 compared to #80 at this time last year. The incident remains under investigation.
