KANSAS CITY —A Kansas City man has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred near Dunbar Park in 2024.
Ramello Robinson-Parks faces 1st Degree Murder, Armed Criminal Action, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson.
On February 19, 2024, Kansas City police responded to reports of a deceased body found in a vacant lot near Oakley Avenue and East 36th Terrace. Police located the victim, later identified as Elaysha Gilliam, deceased, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim’s hands and feet were zip-tied, and duct tape was wrapped over her mouth and around her head.
Elaysha Gilliam was allegedly seen getting into a vehicle with her boyfriend, identified as Ramello Robinson-Parks, on February 17, 2024. Cell phone records placed the Robinson-Parks in the area of the crime scene that same day. Robinson-Parks's DNA matched DNA found on a piece of a latex glove found in the Gilliam's hair, DNA found in her mouth, and DNA collected from her nail scraping. During the Robinson-Park's arrest, detectives found gloves in his backpack that were similar in color and appearance to the piece of glove found in the victim’s hair.
Ramello Robinson-Parks is currently in federal custody for a separate case. He will be transferred into Jackson County custody until this case is resolved.
A Jackson County judge set the defendant’s bond at $100,000 cash only.
