KANSAS CITY— A 70-year-old Kansas City man has been charged with second-degree murder, according to the Jackson County District Attorney's office.
Juan Maiden is charged in connection to a homicide that occurred just after 9:30p.m. July 23.
Kansas City police responded to a shooting at a home and found the front door locked and chose to enter through a bedroom window. They discovered the victim with a gunshot wound to her head in the hallway.
The victim was evacuated through the window and transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The victim's sister told police Maiden shot her unprovoked, according to court documents.
Following a standoff, police found Maiden in the basement with head injuries and he appeared intoxicated.
