FINNEY COUNTY —A man accused in a violent knife fight that critically injured a victim has made his first court appearance in the case.
Jemie Mehammed, 44, of Garden City, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, according to the Finney County Attorney's office.
On July 1, police were dispatched to report of a fight in the 300 block of College Drive in Garden City, according to a media release.
When Officers arrived, they found a 36-year-old man had been stabbed and beaten. Through the investigation, 44-year-old Jemie Mehammed was identified as the suspect. Police took him into custody.
EMS transported the victim to St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was later flown to Colorado for treatment due to the extent of his injuries.
Mehammed remains in the the Finney County Jail on a $200,000 bond. He is due back in court on August 28, according to the district attorney's office.
