FINNEY COUNTY— Five people were injured in an accident just after 8:30p.m. Tuesday in Finney.
Tembeya Bukima, 58, Garden City, was practicing how to drive in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 300 Block of West Mary Street in Garden City, according to Police Sgt. Lana Urteaga.
Bukima turned a GMC Acadia in front of an apartment, continued turning, accelerated, struck two parked vehicles, continued forward and struck an apartment.
First responders found Bukima trapped inside the SUV. Garden City Fire crews had to extricate her from the vehicle. They also assisted four occupants trapped inside the apartment.
Four ambulances transported Bukima, Adieunel Lubenoit, 38, Helene Dervis-Lubenoit, 30, a four-year-old girl and a five-year-old boy all of Garden City to St. Catherine Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Damage assessment to the apartment determined it was not safe to live in, according to Urteaga. Total damage estimated at $10,000.
