KANSAS CITY —One adult and four children were injured in an accident just after 5p.m. Monday in Kansas City.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a Chevrolet Suburban was southbound on Blue Ridge Boulevard at a high rate of speed., according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino.
The Chevrolet struck a Honda Ridgeline that was stopped for the red traffic control signal to make a left turn onto eastbound Interstate 470 from Blue Ridge.
After striking the Honda, the Chevrolet continued southbound, traveling up over the concrete median, striking two traffic control signals before coming to rest.
The driver of the Honda was uninjured in the collision.
EMS transported the driver of the Chevrolet to a local hospital with critical injuries. A juvenile male who was sitting in an unrestrained car seat inside the Chevrolet was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.
The three other juvenile passengers of the Chevrolet were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet and all of the juvenile passengers were reported in stable condition Monday evening, according to DiMartino.
The investigation, to include suspected impairment on the behalf of the Chevrolet driver, is ongoing.
