Kansas man accused of identity theft, forgery

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect on multiple charges after an arrest.

On May 12, members of the Topeka Police Department Narcotics Unit served a search warrant in the 2600 Block of SE Maryland Avenue in Topeka, related to an ongoing investigation.

While conducting the search warrant, the officers located marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a stolen firearm.

As a result, officers arrested Manuel Mesa, 27, of Topeka, transported him to the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges that include Possession of marijuana with the intent of distribution within 1000 feet of a school, Possession of drug paraphernalia with the intent of distribution within 1000 feet of a school, Criminal possession of a firearm by a felon, Criminal use of weapons; possess firearm by a person with a restraining order, Identity theft, Forgery, Use communication facility in the commission felony drug violation, Possession of stolen property; Firearm.
