
SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating another fatal officer involved shooting in Wichita.
Just before 3:30p.m. Saturday afternoon, police responded to a disturbance call at the Topgolf near K-96 and Greenwich, according to Wichita Police spokesman Andrew Ford.
Topgolf reported a man was causing a disturbance inside the business. When officers arrived, the man was no longer at the business. A short time later, police received a call about a suspicions person invoving that same man.

Reports indicated the man had a gun and was pointing it at vehicles along K-96 and Greenwich. Police also had a report that the man had walked into the Bass Pro Shop, pulled out his gun and asked an employee if they had a magazine that would fit the weapon, according to Ford. The employee told him no and the man asked if they had any ammunition for the weapon. The employee then showed the man ammunition for the weapon. The store did not sell the man any ammunition, according to Ford.
The man then walked across the street to the Chick-Fil-A where police were still getting reports the man was pointing a gun at vehicles.
Officers responded to that area but could not locate the man.
Just after 4p.m. police received more calls of a man walking along 21st Street also pointing a gun at vehicles. Officers responded and observed the man with a gun walking westbound on Webb Road just past 21 Street toward the Wilson Estates.
Officers used their loudspeakers to ask the man to stop and continued trying to talk to the man, asking him to stop.
The man then ran into the Wilson Estates area, and an officer chased him and attempted use a Taser, but it did not work, according to Ford.
The man then ran into a tree line and fired one shot at officers. The officers were not injued. They backed off, called for assistance and set up a perimeter. Multiple agancies including KHP, Sedgwich County Sheriff's Deputies, Kechi Police and Bel Aire police responded to the area.
Police used a drone to locate the man in the trees and activated the Wichita Police SWAT and crisis negotiation team. For several hours, negotiaters attempted to talk to the man and even offered him food. The man never responded.
Police then utilized an armored vehicle and got within feet of the suspect. Officers were attempting to give the man a communication device and told him to drop the gun.
According to Ford, the man had a gun pointed at his head before he then pointed the gun at officers in the armored vehicle. A Wichita police officer fired his weapon and the suspect fired back and that prompted an additional exchange of gunfire. The SWAT officers rendered aid to the suspect and he was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
No officers were injured. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation will be in charge of the investigation.
