KANSA CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City Royals won their eighth game in 10 tries Thursday afternoon, blanking the first-place White Sox 5-0. Salvador Perez and Michael A. Taylor both homered, and Carlos Hernandez got the win, pitching 6.o shutout innings, while allowing just four hits.

The Royals improved to 45-56 on the season, climbing to within 14.0 games of Chicago in the AL Central and 11.0 of the AL Wild Card race as the trade deadline is less than 24 hours away. Now the question looms; will the Royals trade away pieces and build for the future? Or, will General Manager Dayton Moore hold on to the current team and hope to make a late-season push?

The Royals will now head on the road for a three game set at Toronto, in the Blue Jays return to Canada after more than a year of playing its home games in Florida due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
