Kansas deputies find stolen checks, heroin during traffic stop

SHAWNEE COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspect on multiple charges after a late night traffic stop.

Just before 10p.m. Wednesday, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a silver Chevrolet Malibu at SW 3rd Street and SW Topeka Boulevard in Topeka, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.

During the investigation, deputies found illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia. They also found a laptop reported stolen through the Lawrence Police Department and checks reported stolen, according to Topeka Police.

Deputies arrested Austin Hicks, 27, and Allison T. Behler, 25, both of Topeka. Hicks is being held on requested charges of possession of heroin, driving with a revoked license and expired vehicle registration. Behler remains jailed for a felony narcotics warrant through Shawnee County and an out of county warrant and on requested charges including possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
