2 injured after 1965 LeMans crash into events center

SALINE COUNTY —Two people were injured when a car struck Tony's Pizza Events Center just after 2p.m. Saturday in Salina.

According to Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester, a 1965 Pontiac LeMans driven by James Lininberger, 51, of Salina, was traveling in the 800 block of The Midway when he accelerated and the pedal became stuck, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.

The LeMans hit the curb and then Tony's Pizza Events Center, causing damage to the southeast wall and breaking a gas line.

Lininberger received an upper ear laceration and nose abrasion and a 47-year-old female passenger received a broken leg and left foot, according to Forrester.

Lininberger was cited for exhibition of speed.
